Haru and Ryo are two Japanese who have just married after 13 years of courtship. Both are huge fans of any of the Disney world so naturally they could not celebrate their wedding anywhere other than Tokyo DisneySea.
In the following image we can see Haru wearing the green bow together with the dress of princess of Ana of the film Frozen . Ryo on the other hand wears the blue ribbon and dress of the Queen Elsa .
Their beautiful love story was born after they met through a friend in common. For more than six years, they maintained a long distance relationship since Haru lived in Tokyo and Ryo in Nagano, however, everything changed for the couple when a big earthquake hit Japan. From that moment they decided that they no longer wanted to be separated, so Ryo would end up moving to Tokyo.
The truth is that the DisneySea complex has been a very important place for the couple since its inception. In fact, that's where they got engaged during a Halloween event.
Ryo was the one who steeled himself and asked the big question while disguised as Flynn Rider .
Same-sex couples can not legally marry in Japan although some localities recognize same-sex couples.
Haru had already told Ryo that he wanted her to be the one to propose to him, however, Ryo was not very convinced about it since his parents did not know about their relationship .
"I think my mother had an idea, but I thought that my father would never accept it ," Ryo said. "I was willing to be rejected by my parents, but if my parents were not going to attend, there was no point in holding any ceremony."
However, coming out was much better than Ryo ever expected. "My parents had the opportunity to live in an open culture of mind regarding the LGBT group on one of their trips abroad," Ryo commented. "Since then they had become more flexible, partly because of those experiences, and they accepted me easily ."
Out of the closet strengthened the relationship with his father . "Until then I did not have many opportunities to talk to my father, but after I got honest with him and started planning the wedding, I was able to talk and share more time with him."
When Haru saw Ryo's father hold her hand and take her to her, she could not hold back the tears.
For both, getting the necessary vacation to celebrate the wedding was complicated since most Japanese companies expect their employees to live to work, and not vice versa . In addition, Haru still had not told him anything about his relationship with his boss.
"Normally, requesting free time for a wedding is usually a news item celebrated by all, however, I was worried that people would think that I was leaving aside the I work to go on vacation, "said Haru.
In the end he decided to meet with his boss and some of his colleagues because" it was the first step I had to take to live as a married couple. "
Both received congratulatory messages by their bosses, but did not apply for the marriage license normally granted to heterosexual couples because they did not want to come out of the closet before their respective top executives. Instead, they decided to apply for vacations.
Ryo and Haru are super excited to start the next stage in their lives: form a family .
Hopefully Haru and Ryo will be happy forever and their relationship will have the end of every fairy tale.
