Detroit is the largest city in the state of Michigan and, since 2008 until now, because of the financial crisis, it has become one of the cities with the highest rate of crime and violence in the United States. In addition, there have been numerous racial conflicts between police and black people. All this has made Detroit has become a dangerous city.
Police officers in Detroit are constantly alert for any possible attack against them, so when they saw a girl about 9 years old entering the police station with adults Behind her and looking for something in her backpack, they immediately believed that something bad was about to happen. But nothing could be further from reality, the girl's message left them all speechless.
Little Samya McLaughlin, 9 years old, started by saying it was her birthday and she took several lunches made by herself from her purse. Samya had already planned to spend his birthday with all his friends, but when he saw on television the situation the police were going through lately, he did not think twice and canceled all his plans.
She bought all the ingredients of each lunch with her own money and prepared them herself. They consisted of a sandwich, chips, fruit and a biscuit. He did it to show his gratitude to the cops for their hard work. I wanted to make them see that what they do is very important to the community and that there were many people who did care about their lives.
"I felt the need to do it because I wanted to show my support and thanks for everything they do and to know that all lives are important," Samya confessed.
Samya did little, when he finished at the police station, Samya and his parents went to a homeless shelter and gave them 30 more lunches to the homeless. That day, the little girl decided to spend all her money on making others happy when she could easily have bought the toy she wanted for her birthday.
Samya's parents could not be more proud of her.
"She has a big heart and knows how to take care of people and how to appreciate what is happening", said his father Sam Walker.
In the following video you can see how the police officers, in a show of thanks, named the little "Officer of the Day"
A Despite everything that is happening in the world at this time, we must remember that we are all human beings, despite our religious or political beliefs, the color of our skin, our sexual orientation, etc. At the end of the day, we are all people and we must respect ourselves above anything.
Share the great gesture of Samya with all your friends!
