This last heroic act of a victim of domestic violence saved the life of her baby
On the night of September 14, 2014, a Special Weapons and Tactics team arrived at a three-story house in Smyrna, Georgia, after several neighbors called for help. What nobody expected was that inside that house, domestic violence had already turned deadly.
When agents entered the house, they found the bodies of Jessica Arrendale, a 37-year-old woman and her boyfriend Antoine. Davis of 30. Antoine seemed to have committed suicide.
What the officers did not know on entering was that, surprisingly, their daughter of only 5 months had survived the incident.
Jessica had a daughter named Naiomi who was 15 years old and Antoine also had two daughters from a previous relationship. Still, they decided to have a daughter in common and Cobie was born.
Antoine was an infant of the US Navy who had served the nation in the Iraq war. Although the mother of his older daughters said that he had always been a loving father, the war had left him very touched and he suffered episodes of severe depression.
