The Manhattan skyline is about to be confused with a loop, literally. The plans have been officially presented to build the world's first U-shaped skyscraper in New York City, and will challenge the boundaries of architecture.
The Big Bend is an ambitious project that is being designed by Oiio Studio, a world-renowned design team that previously faced restrictions on city use. "If we manage to double our structure instead of doubling the zoning rules of New York, we would be able to create one of the most prestigious buildings in Manhattan," they wrote on their official website about their plan to circumvent the laws of physics by building this skyscraper so high.
If carried out successfully, The Big Bend will end up becoming the longest building in the world, surpassing even the Burj Khalifa in full length. The building will require an elevator system that can travel in curves and loops to be transported by its unique shape, which looks something like a roller coaster. We still do not know when we can see this wonder of the world on 57th Street.
This is The Big Bend, a revolutionary curved skyscraper that they want to build on 57th Street in New York.
The structure, designed by Oiio Studio, uses space effectively with its unique U shape …
But it does not skimp on capacity, and it is built simply long, rather than high.
The Big Bend, in fact, will become the longest building in the world, surpassing even the Dubai Burj Khalifa.
It has been designed to bypass the strict zoning laws of New York, which limit the height of buildings in the city.
The building will require a lift system suited to the structure of the tower.
construction date is unknown, but The Big Bend will dominate the Manhattan skyline when it is built.
