Eggs are not just a part of the traditional diet. They are a staple throughout the world. And yet, most people still do not know anything about them …
One thing that people often wonder about is what white and fibrous there is in the yolk. Well, the answer is much more interesting than you've ever thought!
It's not always visible to the naked eye, especially once an egg has been cooked.
This white fibrous substance attached to the yolk of most eggs is called the chalaza.
But what the hell is it?
Relax! This is actually a sign that the egg is fresh and safe to eat.
There is usually a chalaza on each side of the yolk. They act as anchors to keep the yolk centered on the egg, instead of forming on one side.
The chalaza it also keeps the yolk connected to the eggshell.
Once again, it is totally edible!
As the egg matures, the chalaza becomes less and less visible. If you get to the point where you do not see one, the egg could be rotting!
Surely this one it's a healthy egg!
Now you know you have to always look for the chalaza when you use eggs for cook!
I can not believe that this is the first time I am learning this . I guess I always assumed it was only part of the egg whites, but it's much more important than I thought.
