The boy who slipped into the exclusion zone of Fukushima reveals images never seen

When the Fukushima nuclear disaster affected Japan, they urged residents to stay at least 30km away from the plant to be evacuated. Five years have passed since then and the established exclusion zone remains closed to visitors.

However, the human desire to explore the unknown sometimes gains more strength than following all established rules and regulations. Keow Wee Loong, a young 27-year-old photographer from Malaysia, chose to ignore government procedures and illegally sneaked into the Fukushima exclusion zone, bypassing police patrols and barricades.

"I felt like an actual version of the famous Fallout video game "- said Keow Wee in Boredpanda . Equipped with only a gas mask, the reckless young man was not afraid to expose his skin to high levels of radiation in order to take some never-before-seen photographs of the place, since 2011.

Fukushima, unlike Chernobyl, has not been sacked yet.

The truth is that the images are spooky, everything had to be abandoned as it was after the disaster. This photographer was very brave to go into the exclusion zone without caring about the risk that I can pose to his health. Hopefully nothing serious will happen to you. Still, we thank you from here for the images you have brought to the world.
