We all know that drinking plenty of water is essential to ensure the proper functioning of our body. We have already commented on several occasions that water purifies and cleanses our body helping us to free ourselves of those toxins so harmful to our health and, in addition, it will hydrate both your skin, your hair and your nails so that you have a radiant appearance.

What you probably did not know is that, apart from everything already mentioned, water will help you lose weight. Yes, as you read, just drinking the necessary amount of water per day will help your body lose those extra pounds.

1- Drinking water can help you eat less

Drinking a large glass of water before each meal will help you feel satisfied faster. Therefore, you will need to eat less to stop being hungry.

This study of 84 adults with obesity, found that overweight adults who drank a glass of water half an hour before eating for 12 weeks, lost a kilo and half more compared to those who did not.

2- Drinking water helps you burn calories faster

A study of 14 people (7 women and 7 men) between 27 and 30 years old with a normal body mass index, showed that participants who drank two glasses full of water experienced a 30% increase in their rate metabolic in only half an hour.

3- Cold water is even more powerful

Drinking very cold water will make your body have to work even harder to make the water warm to body temperature. Warming a glass of about 230ml of ice water at body temperature burns about 7 calories, according to research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism . Drink 10 glasses of cold water a day for a week and you'll burn 490 extra calories.
