This century could be the key to doing all or nothing to prevent climate change on our planet. If things go on like this, and no measures are taken to reduce carbon emissions, it is estimated that there will be up to 4.5 ° C (8.1 ° F) of global temperature increase by 2100.
Just in time for the global negotiations on the climate of the United Nations in Paris in a couple of weeks, Climate Central has published some shocking images that show the dramatic effect that is expected by the increase in temperature over sea level and the subsequent changes around the world, including London, Shanghai, Bombay, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Durban and New York. They also included a 2 ° C (3.6 ° F) warm-up to compare, which is the limit we should aspire to if we want to avoid catastrophic consequences around the world.
The images were created by the visual artist Nickolay Lamm using recent research by experts on carbon emission and its effect on sea level, together with a recent report describing the application of these projections to different landscapes of the world.
